Temper Trap, Seymour Stein and hype from their manager
Temper Trap are a Melbourne band who released a pretty mediocre EP a couple of years ago and who this year recorded an as-yet-unreleased full length with the guy who produced the first Arctic Monkeys record.
I went to seem them play at what I think was their second London show (at a tranny strip club in Soho, of all places) last night, and as they came on stage their manager turned to me and said, “These guys are gonna be the biggest band to come out of Australia in the next ten years…” And, I scoffed at the time, but after watching their set and also after seeing a certain elderly New Yorker responsible for signing both Madonna and Talking Heads hanging around after the show…. well, who knows, I guess.
